Hi, welcome to set yourself up for success training series and I’m so excited to get started and I really cannot wait for you to dive into all the modules and get into the nitty gritty of creating your course.
But first, before we do that, I think it’s really important that we lay the foundation for really setting yourself up for success because this is a big project that you’re taking on and it’s going to be a decent amount of work, but it’s totally worth it.
However, in order to be successful, I really think there’s a few important steps you need to take before you get down into figuring out your outline, creating your content, diving in the technical aspects of creating a course, and at first focus on what we’re going to talk about in today’s video, which is WHY you really want this. And I know it might seem kind of like superficial or we will, but knowing your why behind why it is you’re going after anything in your life really is the biggest key to success.
Because without that, without that really like ingrained in your subconscious mind, I think people give up way too easily. Because anytime something gets difficult, your brains naturally going to rationalize all the reasons why you shouldn’t be doing this. That’s is just our human nature is that we want to avoid pain and a move towards pleasure.
So sometimes our brains consider just anything that’s a little bit tough or trying or pushing us out of our comfort zone as pain. And it will naturally try to give you every single reason why you shouldn’t be doing what it is that you’re doing. And a lot of times it can be very, very convincing.
But when you know your why and you have a deep enough reason behind wanting to follow through and complete something, it’s gonna push you through times that you normally might have quit. And a lot of times I’ll ask people, okay, well why does it?
You want it? Why do you want to create a course? Or why do you want to do this? I’m what? What’s their motivation behind it? And also often I’ll get the answer, well I really want to help people or I want to make a bigger impact. And I mean that’s great. Like that. It really is a great reason. I think all of us, as long as we’re good people want to help other people. It’s just, sorry, natural like human characteristic to be altruistic and want to help fellow humanity. But that’s not, no like that’s not going to get you up early in the morning or stay up late at night or keep you going through all the trials and tribulations that might come along with pursuing your goal, whatever that may be.
Do you need to get real with yourself on why it is that you really want it and you really don’t seem to let go of all that guilt and be honest with yourself about whiteness and you want something and there is no such thing as a selfish reason.
I don’t care if it’s because you want to go buy five Chanel purses or Louis Vuitton luggage or you want to travel world or are you wanting to be able to spend time with your husband and your family or you want to look up to you and admire you and you want to be considered successful. Like none of those reasons are bad reasons. And if that’s what really lights you up and gets the excited, that’s what you need to hold on to. And that really like envision what it’s going to feel like in order when you accomplish that. When you can put push send on that first lunch email. And so seeing the money coming rolling in near bank account, no, what that money is able to provide you and your family and your future life and none, not many. They’re selfish reasons. So I really want you right now to take away that one.
You need to know your why and I want you to spend some time on really thinking about what this is and don’t hold back and don’t try to pick something because it sounds good, like sounds good, is not going to get you where you want to be. Like you need to be real with yourself. And then once you have that reason, I want you to make it visible and put it in like your forefront of your visit, visiting your focus. So here’s a few examples of things I’ve done personally and that you can do as well. One of them is to print it out and frame it and put it by your bed. A second is to create, are there like a quote or a saying or a vision board, a picture of something? I’m put it as your desktop on your computer screen. So every time you look at your computer, which is probably a lie, you’re going to see that and you’re gonna be reminded, why is it you’re doing it?
I think the computer screen is a great way, a great place to put this because of what it is that we’re doing, creating an online course. So we’re probably going to be spending a lot of time in front of the computer screen. So having that in there as a reminder is a really, really powerful. And then a third way to really get this, your subconscious mind is to write it down every morning when you wake up and before you go to bed. So before I’m even going to let you move on to module one, I need you to submit your y and there’ll be a forum fee to be able to do this. And then just to at least one of those three examples of different ways that you can remind yourself on a daily basis of why it is you’re wanting to continue doing this.
